A TRUE LESSON TO TEACH YOUR CHILDREN
ByBeUtyTradeReVueon July 6, 2015
The Secret to Happiness is the first book in the Hugo Series. Coincidentally it's also the first book I've read of author Suzy Liebermann.

I feel that the plot line in this children's book is very well developed for this age group. The illustrations are spot on with vibrant color. Yet at the same time it's not very busy to distract the younger audience.

The main character is one that children could easily remember and relate to on their level. Even if your child is too young to understand the message, they can certainly fall in love with the character like other popular children's literary characters. The characteristic that's emphasized in this book is empathy and it's a very important characteristic to instill in your child at a young age. The secret is one you'll have to read the book to find out, yet it's safe to tell you it's the true Secret to Happiness.

Great book for learning lessons, March 5, 2014 By L.B.

I highly recommend this book series for children 5 and up. My daughter was thoroughly excited about the pictures and the different characters in the story, but since she's only 2 she could not benefit from the books story line. As she gets older, this book will definitely be of help to her :)

Love Hugo the Happy Starfish!, March 4, 2014 By Amberr Meadows
This review is from: THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS (HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH - An Inspiring Sea Adventure for Young Children) (Kindle Edition)

Hugo the Happy Starfish — The Secret to Happiness –is educational and lovely like all of Suzy Liebermann’s books. Vividly beautiful illustrations, and key lessons of morality, help children to realize the secret of happiness lies, not in material things, but in the heart, beginning with empathy. Lovable characters, and educational segments pleased me, and my daughter was simply hooked on the story line. I recommend this book to any parent trying to fortify their children’s moral compass.

by Paige: I am 7 years old and love to read books. I liked Hugo because the book tells us we should be happy. Hugo was cute so I smiled. I did some of the things Hugo did: Spend time with my friends and take a nap. I wish I could go fishing too! I use my heart to be happy, just like him!

by Alyson: As a mom, I am always looking for ways to teach my kids without them knowing they are learning and we are big on books and reading at our house. When I found Suzy and her wonderful Hugo series, I knew we were on to something good. The characters are darling. The illustrations are bright and cheerful. And while the language is written so children can grasp the meaning, the author never talks down to the children. I was thrilled my daughter loved it. I even enjoyed reading it myself. I am sure we will be reading the entire Hugo series!

Such a Good Message, February 19, 2014 By dmwil80
This review is from: THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS (HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH - Educational Children's Book Collection) (Kindle Edition)

This book was great for Ms. Middle {age 4}. She was quickly engaged with the story and sat through the whole book with no "wiggles". While it was a short book, it packed a lot of good information on EMPATHY for the kids to read. Ms. Middle was excited to see Hugo helping others and want to help others in our lives right away. Great book. Recommend to anyone.

The Happy Starfish:, March 19, 2014 By Kim Justice "Rev. Kim Justice" -

What a cute, well written and illustrated book for kids. Not only was it full of color and neat characters but told in such a way that it reaches different learning experiences as well.
The adventures that Hugo has in his life also can be used to teach children many wonderful character traits.

I was very much pulled in to these thirty-two colorful pages and at the end was ready to read it again to grandkids. They loved it.
So as you can see above in the synopsis, it gives you a good idea of the book, all I will add at this time is, I would recommend it to all parents to read to there kids and add it in to their bookshelf.

I give this book by Suzy Liebermann my Breath of Life Rating of: Five Clock Rating!

Adorable & Educational, February 17, 2014 By Michelle Knopp
This review is from: THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS (HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH - Educational Children's Book Collection) (Kindle Edition)

I read this book to my 5 year old preschooler. He was actively engaged in the story and was anxiously anticipating what would happen next. He loved “turning” the pages on the computer. It provided a great opportunity for us to talk about sharing and how helping others can bring happiness to our lives.

What we loved about this book:
•Bright vivid colors and adorable character illustrations. •Teaches an important life lesson about happiness, sharing, and empathy.
•The characters are fun and relatable to small children.

The Hugo the Happy Starfish Series would make a fabulous gift for a family with young children or a great educational tool for a preschool teacher’s classroom.

Loving The Secret to Happiness, February 15, 2014 By Natasha Peter This review is from: THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS

What is the secret to happiness? Will it last? How long will it last? What do I have to do to be happy? These are all the questions that are asked within this awesome book, The Secret to Happiness by Suzy Liebermann. Sounds like a beautiful theme already, right?

The Secret to Happiness starts with Hugo trying to find the source of happiness. He talks to his friend Magic Manta, who gives him some ideas of what to do to find happiness. Each idea worked for the moment, but soon enough he would be sad once again. Finally, he came out with the idea of sharing his heart with others. Giving freely without wanting anything in return kept him happy for such a long time. His heart beamed with doing for others. He learned that the source of happiness is helping others and watching them be happy. It's truly a beautiful tale!

The Secret to Happiness is the second book that I've read in the Hugo: The Happy Starfish series. I love the story lines in Hugo's books and my son loves the bright, vibrant colors. I believe the stories are a bit over his head, but in time, I do think that he'll come to appreciate these stories. In the meanwhile, I will continue to read and enjoy the Hugo: The Happy Starfish stories.

THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS by Suzy Lieberman is another excellent book in a series. Hugo is looking for something to make him happy forever. He learns things cannot make people happy it is sharing your heart and talents that make a lasting happiness. Again, I praise Suzy Liebermann's delivery of the concept of happiness in a colorful book. I love the series of Hugo the Starfish. When I worked in the school system as a social worker I scoured the world for educational materials that would engage the children with thoughts of how their actions affected others. This book has delightful colorful images of the ocean. There are so many ways to present this book. I am thinking this would benefit adult children of alcoholics. Even the discussion prompts would relate to that group. Ms. Liebermann has an exceptional ability to relate to youth and adults.

THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS in German, Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese:

Die Geschichte von der Kleinen Froschprinzessin Sophia gibt es nun auch in deutscher Sprache.

Reader's Voice:

THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS

Happiness starts with EMPATHY

Hugo is a little starfish. He finds his life dull and boring. Tired of feeling sad, one day he sets off to find happiness. After much searching, he dissevers something that makes his heart do a somersault. Sharing with other is the only thing that makes him truly happy; all other things just made him feel better for a little while.

Adults strive to teach children to share within their communities. Encouraging children to give teaches them empathy as well as a sense of social responsibility.

Children can feel empowered by giving and sharing with others.

The book was  written with the inspiration of having to explain Leukemia to a child.

The fact that with a "simple blood donation" you can save a person's life.  By sharing your blood, you are sharing your heart, you give without getting anything in return and this can make you tremendously happy.
